Enter your current discount/surcharge grade, the number of accidents in the last 3 years, and the accident claim amount to calculate the added accident score and the expected grade change at your next renewal. It also compares the projected 3-year premium impact against the cost of self-paying for repairs, so you can see which choice is more advantageous.
e.g. 11Z, 12Z (new drivers usually start at 11Z)
Enter the number of accidents that will count toward your next renewal. Enter 0 if you had none.
If the amount per accident exceeds ₩2,000,000, it counts as 1 point; ₩2,000,000 or less counts as 0.5 points.
If left blank, an average value (₩800,000) is assumed for the calculation.
Enter the accident count to calculate the expected grade change.
* No annual premium was entered, so an average value (₩800,000) was assumed for this calculation.
This tool is a reference-only estimate that simplifies how Korean car insurance's accident-score grading system (1Z–29Z, where a higher grade means a bigger discount) typically works. It assumes the premium rate changes evenly across the 28 grade steps, from 200% at 1Z down to 40% at 29Z; actual rate tables and accident-scoring rules (e.g. how bodily-injury vs. own-injury accidents are scored, or the chosen property-damage threshold) vary by insurer, product, and policy history (such as no-surcharge riders). A 0.5-point accident is sometimes carried over to the next incident by insurers rather than applied immediately, but this calculator applies and rounds it right away. Always confirm your actual renewal grade and premium with your insurer.
