This calculator is a simplified reference simulation of South Korea's parental leave benefit (육아휴직급여) formula under the Employment Insurance Act. Under the 2025 rules, the standard benefit pays 100% of your ordinary wage for the entire leave period, with a monthly cap of ₩2.5 million for months 1–3, ₩2 million for months 4–6, and ₩1.6 million from month 7 onward, and a ₩700,000 floor throughout; the previous rule that withheld 25% of the benefit until 6 months after returning to work has been abolished, so the full amount is now paid every month. If both parents take leave (concurrently or sequentially) for the same child starting within 18 months of birth, the '6+6 Parental Leave' incentive applies instead for the first 6 months: 100% of ordinary wage with a monthly cap that rises from ₩2 million (month 1) through ₩2.5M, ₩3M, ₩3.5M, ₩4M, up to ₩4.5 million (month 6), after which the standard rule applies again from month 7. This estimate is per parent; actually receiving the 6+6 incentive requires both parents to meet its eligibility conditions, and your real payout and eligibility can also depend on workplace and enrollment requirements (e.g. at least 180 insured days as of the leave start date). Check your exact eligibility and amount via the Employment Insurance site (work24.go.kr) or your local employment center.
